Dear fellow leaders and managers,
Welcome back! Thanks for staying tuned. I had to stay away from this for a while because I just had to much other stuff to do. Which doesn't mean I didn't study at all. I've studied quite a bit. But I've just not been on social media or this blog for about two weeks. But now I'm back and more motivated than ever! So I've started a new module last week. It's a short module called "Upper Echolons Approach". My wife said that this is a funny name. Well, yes indeed. I had no idea - before I started with this topic - what in the world it entails. I'm a whole lot smarter now. What do you think it is? Well, I'll tell you in a bit. First of all, let me tell you that this is a true leadership topic. It's basically about the relationship between top leaders and organizational outcomes. It's about strategic decision-making as well. Thus, very very important. However, it's not as simple as it may sound. Quite an ambitious writer (Meir Shemla) from a top university. I'm really impressed and it's a wonderful topic. Well, I better get back to work. Thanks for staying around. I hope you'll come back next week! David Dear fellow leaders (or whatever "business" position you are seeking),
This will be my last entry for September. I found out that I will have loads of work over the weekend and next week. So I won't be able to finish any module(s) before the end of September. Thus, no time for blog entries. However, I will be back in October and discuss a few topics that I've encountered so far (all management related, of course). The accounting module is almost finished. I wish I could have finished it a little earlier. But it's tough if you have a family and you are working full-time. So there is not much to say about this module yet. I think I will be able to give more infos after the exam. And that might be after the first week of October. In my next entry I will also try to talk a bit about business schools (worldwide). There are so many and I think it's about time to have a little discussion on what's good out there... and what not so much. Maybe we can share/exchange some opinions on that as well. David Welcome back to my blog!
So everything is fine. They don't let me go and I will keep my job. False alarm! My wife is really happy (so am I). Because of this new development, I decided to do something I have never done before: Quit a module and start another. So last week I've started the module "Management of Innovation". It's a great topic, a great module. However, I needed something more in my area for now until I recovered from all of this stuff at my work. So I've decided to postpone the Innovation module (don't worry, I'm not going to drop it as it is a very important and interesting topic). The new topic is, well what the title says... some of you may know that I'm working within the field of accounting. So that's why I chose this topic for now as I feel a bit more familiar with it and I just need something familiar right now. It's easy. I've read half the book already. This being said, I will have to give more information on the Management of Accounting and Control Systems in my next entry. For those of you who are interested, stay tuned. David Welcome back to my little blog,
In case some of you wondered: I am still not finished with this course and it's going to take a little while longer. That's the good news. Because I really like studying and learning new things that way - especially about myself. It's a great feeling finishing things on my own. Studying as an adult is much more different than it was back in the good ole school days. The bad news is that I might have to find a new job soon. My company is struggling so they let people go. I don't know if it's going to affect my position yet... anyway, all of this brought me to a new module topic: Innovation, or rather "Management of Innovation". So far, it is really interesting and easy to read. I've read the first three pages without re-reading a few times. The exercises are fair and I've been taking them as well. It's a good topic. This is a shorty today. It's been a long morning and now I have to get back to get some work done. I hope you'll come back next week. I will talk a bit more about Innovation. David Hello everyone!
What a great week. I've got so much done -- needless Hello friends,
I've decided to take a short summer break starting tomorrow. I will be back in about a week. During this time, I will try to catch up with all my summer readings, but also, I will study some more module books. Here is what have planned (since I'm not working at all during this time): Dynamic Capabilities New Institutional Economics These three really short modules will be part of my "summer readings" this week. Any thoughts? I'm not really sure yet what these topics entail. But I will find out soon! If there is anyone among you bloggers who is interested in these topics (or even just one), let me know. I'd be happy to exchange some word with you about it. I haven't been able to join the online colloquium lately, so I've been missing some thoughts and communication on certain topics. That's all for today. Next week, I will let you know about my progress in these two topics mentioned above. I hope there's a few of you who is reading my blog and is interested in talking about it. Thanks again. David |
